Abstract: | Images of limb of Mars reveal discrete cloud layers between 20 and 80 km above surface. Appear to be composed of water ice and characteristics are similar to hazes that produce 'diamond dust' precipitation in Antarctica. Optical data from Viking Orbiter experiments are combined with observations from other sources to investigate nature of these condensate hazes, which may play key role in seasonal water cycle of Mars. |
