Record #104675:

Sexual differences in temperatures of blossoms on a dioecious plant, Salix arctica: significance for life in the Arctic / Peter G. Kevan.

Title: Sexual differences in temperatures of blossoms on a dioecious plant, Salix arctica: significance for life in the Arctic / Peter G. Kevan.
Author(s): Kevan, Peter G.
Date: 1990.
In: Arctic and Alpine Research. (1990.), Vol. 22(3) (1990)
Abstract: Reports study whose aims are: 1. to measure extent to which catkins at time of pollination become warmed by insolation; to discover if warmth is transferred from insolated side of catkins to shaded side; 2. to determine if any physiological processes are involved in evolution of large amounts of heat; 3. to test hypothesis that differences in temperature regimes exist between sexes. Study carried out on Ellesmere Island.
