Record #104583:

The spring in the forest terrain at Svartberget, Northern Sweden / Hans Odin, Christer Deg Ermark.

Title: The spring in the forest terrain at Svartberget, Northern Sweden / Hans Odin, Christer Deg Ermark.
Author(s): Odin, Hans.
Deg Ermark, Christer.
Date: 1990.
In: Geografiska Annaler. Series A. Physical Geography. (1990.), Vol. 72A(2) (1990)
Abstract: Relationship between air temperature, soil temperature and snow cover has been studied at three different sites (1980-88). Maximum difference between first snow-free day and beginning of warming of mineral soil surface below vegetation and humus was only four days, but sites differed greatly between start of warming of soil surface and that of deeper soil layers. In early spring, change in temperature gradient in frozen and dry soil was observed, associated with infiltration of meltwater, and it occurred at almost same time as mean daily air temperature exceeded 0.5° C.
