Record #104501:

Glacial to interglacial changes in the isotopic gradients of Southern Ocean surface water / Christopher D. Charles, Richard G. Fairbanks.

Title: Glacial to interglacial changes in the isotopic gradients of Southern Ocean surface water / Christopher D. Charles, Richard G. Fairbanks.
Author(s): Charles, Christopher D.
Fairbanks, Richard G.
Date: 1990.
Publisher: Dordrecht: Kluwer Academic
In: Geological history of the polar oceans : Arctic versus Antarctic. (1990.),
Abstract: Discusses present surface water distribution of δ¹⁸O and δ¹³C, demonstrating that, at least in South Atlantic sector, the plantonik foraminiferal species Neogloboquadrina pachyderma is a reasonable recorder of these distributions. Constructs and compares geographic transects of isotopic values for recent and glacial-age N. pachyderma in order to illuminate aspects of glacial Southern Ocean surface water chemistry, and to determine "preformed" characteristics of glacial deep and intermediate waters.
Notes:
