Record #104501:
Glacial to interglacial changes in the isotopic gradients of Southern Ocean surface water / Christopher D. Charles, Richard G. Fairbanks.
Title: | Glacial to interglacial changes in the isotopic gradients of Southern Ocean surface water / Christopher D. Charles, Richard G. Fairbanks. |
Author(s): | Charles, Christopher D. Fairbanks, Richard G. |
Date: | 1990. |
Publisher: | Dordrecht: Kluwer Academic |
In: | Geological history of the polar oceans : Arctic versus Antarctic. (1990.), |
Abstract: | Discusses present surface water distribution of δ¹⁸O and δ¹³C, demonstrating that, at least in South Atlantic sector, the plantonik foraminiferal species Neogloboquadrina pachyderma is a reasonable recorder of these distributions. Constructs and compares geographic transects of isotopic values for recent and glacial-age N. pachyderma in order to illuminate aspects of glacial Southern Ocean surface water chemistry, and to determine "preformed" characteristics of glacial deep and intermediate waters. |
Notes: | In: Geological history of the polar oceans : Arctic versus Antarctic / Ulrich Bleil, Jörn Thiede, eds. |
