Particle sedimentation and productivity in Antarctic waters of the Atlantic sector / G. Wefer, G. Fischer, D.K. Fütterer, R. Gersonde, S. Honjo, Dorinda Ostermann.

Title: Particle sedimentation and productivity in Antarctic waters of the Atlantic sector / G. Wefer, G. Fischer, D.K. Fütterer, R. Gersonde, S. Honjo, Dorinda Ostermann.
Author(s): Wefer, G.

Honjo, S.
Ostermann, Dorinda.
Date: 1990.
Publisher: Dordrecht: Kluwer Academic
In: Geological history of the polar oceans : Arctic versus Antarctic. (1990.),
Abstract: Presents seasonal flux data from the Bransfield Strait and two sites in the Weddell Sea (east of the South Orkney Islands and west of Maud Rise). Data show a strong seasonality in both annual total flux and composition, as well as large regional variabilities. Incorporation of smaller particles into faecal pellets and aggregates found to be main process for transport of material from surface to sea floor.
