Record #104497:
Structures in rift-basin sediments on the conjugate margins of Western Tasmania, South Tasman Rise, and Ross Sea, Antarctica / K. Hinz, M. Hemmerich, U. Salge, O. Eiken.
Title: | Structures in rift-basin sediments on the conjugate margins of Western Tasmania, South Tasman Rise, and Ross Sea, Antarctica / K. Hinz, M. Hemmerich, U. Salge, O. Eiken. |
Author(s): | Hinz, K. Hemmerich, M. Salge, U. Eiken, O. |
Date: | 1990. |
Publisher: | Dordrecht: Kluwer Academic |
In: | Geological history of the polar oceans : Arctic versus Antarctic. (1990.), |
Abstract: | Complex structures in sediments suggesting extensive wrench faulting observed on seismic records; these processes affected rift-fill and transgressive strata in these areas up to the Eocene when deformation ended. Equates end of wrench deformation with final separation of the Australian and Antarctic Plates and the establishment of open marine conditions. |
