Record #104484:

Fluctuations in populations of Adélie penguins at Cape Bird, Antarctica / Kerry-Jayne Wilson.

Title: Fluctuations in populations of Adélie penguins at Cape Bird, Antarctica / Kerry-Jayne Wilson.
Author(s): Wilson, Kerry-Jayne.
Date: 1990.
In: Polar Record. (1990.), Vol. 26(159) (1990)
Abstract: Monitoring study of three Pygoscelis adeliae rookeries in 1965-70 and 1974-87. Population found to be surprisingly unstable, twice deviating significantly from a mean value of about 37,500 pairs in 1968 and 1967 and increasing rapidly since 1982 to reach 54,000 pairs in 1987. Stresses need for caution when using bird populations to detect man-induced changes in marine environment.
