Record #104392:

Numerical simulation of powder-snow avalanches / Yusuke Fukushima, Gary Parker.

Title: Numerical simulation of powder-snow avalanches / Yusuke Fukushima, Gary Parker.
Author(s): Fukushima, Yusuke.
Parker, Gary.
Date: 1990.
In: Journal of Glaciology. (1990.), Vol. 36(123) (1990)
Abstract: Model is described: as opposed to previous models, total buoyancy of avalanche is allowed to change freely via erosion from and deposition to static snow layer on slope. In model, snow-particle entrainment rate from slope is directly linked to level of turbulence. Model is applied to prediction of major powder-snow avalanche at Maseguchi, Japan, on 26 January 1986. Description was reasonably accurate.
