Record #104365:

Full scale observations of ship-ice contact. Results from tests series onboard IB Sampo, winter 1989 / Kaj Riska, Heikki Rantala, Antti Joensuu.

Title: Full scale observations of ship-ice contact. Results from tests series onboard IB Sampo, winter 1989 / Kaj Riska, Heikki Rantala, Antti Joensuu.
Author(s): Riska, Kaj.
Rantala, Heikki.
Joensuu, Antti.
Date: 1990.
Publisher: Espoo: Helsinki University of Technology, Laboratory of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
Abstract: Full-scale tests in northern Baltic Sea followed laboratory tests in 1988, and used same system to measure ice pressure. Contact was observed visually and ice pressure was found to act by means of line-like geometry. Although laboratory results were confirmed, many questions remain to be answered about nature of ice pressures.
