Title: Ice impact model tests for three bow forms of vessel. Volume 1. Short analysis of the test results. Volume 2. Plotted time histories of the forces, moments and motions / Kaj Riska, Jorma Kämäräinen, Mikko Hänninen.
Author(s): Riska, Kaj.
Kämäräinen, Jorma.
Hänninen, Mikko.
Date: 1990.
Publisher: Espoo: Helsinki University of Technology, Laboratory of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
Abstract: Main goal of project, which was initiated in 1987, is to develop mathematical model to describe ship-ice interaction. Purpose of test series is to generate model test data, which can be used to verify results of theoretical calculations. Report aims at presenting measurement system and results obtained; tests were carried out in test basin in 1988. Ice forces, moments and ship motions were measured when ship model, with three different bow forms, rams against presawn level ice edge of different forms and thicknesses.
