Record #104121:

Potential consequences of "dirty" Arctic sea ice (abstract) / Stephanie L. Pfirman, Manfred A. Lange, Tamara Shapiro Ledley.

Title: Potential consequences of "dirty" Arctic sea ice (abstract) / Stephanie L. Pfirman, Manfred A. Lange, Tamara Shapiro Ledley.
Author(s): Pfirman, Stephanie L.
Lange, Manfred A.
Ledley, Tamara Shapiro.
Date: 1990.
In: Annals of Glaciology. (1990.), Vol. 14 (1990)
Abstract: Observations of high particulate loads on Eurasian Basin sea ice in 1987 raise questions on consequence for sediment budgets, ice melting, ice modelling, and remote sensing. Bio- and lithogenic particles were observed in concentrations high enough to colour ice surface brown. To date, variation in sea-ice particle load has not been considered, apart from deposition of soot from nuclear war.
