Record #104100:
Climatic warming, glaciers and sea level (abstract) / Roy M. Koerner, David A. Fisher.
Title: | Climatic warming, glaciers and sea level (abstract) / Roy M. Koerner, David A. Fisher. |
Author(s): | Koerner, Roy M. Fisher, David A. |
Date: | 1990. |
In: | Annals of Glaciology. (1990.), Vol. 14 (1990) |
Abstract: | Evidence points to lower, not greater, snow accumulation rates during glacial periods. Climate warming due to human activity may cause increased vapour transport and, hence, increased snow accumulation, and question is whether this will be exceeded by melting of ice in ablation area. Considers conditions that might occur in Arctic and Antarctic, and in ground ice. |
Notes: | Annals of Glaciology. Vol. 14 :343 (1990). |
Keywords: | 551.588.5 -- Climate, relationship with ice. 551.588 -- Climate, effect of man and environment. 551.583 -- Climatic changes. 551.32 -- Glaciology. 551.324 -- Land ice. 551.324.433 -- Land ice, ablation and calving. 551.578.462 -- Snow cover, ablation. 551.345.2 -- Permafrost, formation and decay. 551.461.2 -- Sea level, fluctuations.
