Record #104070:

Characteristics of ridges in Northumberland Strait / T.G. Brown, J. Bruce, D. Currie.

Title: Characteristics of ridges in Northumberland Strait / T.G. Brown, J. Bruce, D. Currie.
Author(s): Brown, T. G.
Bruce, J.
Currie, D.
Date: 1990.
Publisher: New York: American Society of Mechanical Engineers
In: Proceedings of the Ninth International Conference on Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering - 1990 - presented at ... Houston, Texas, February 18-23, 1990. Vol. 4. Arctic/polar technology. (1990.),
Abstract: Study of kinematic and mechanical properties, in connection with proposal to construct 13 km bridge across strait. Extreme ridges are critical factor in determining ice loads on bridge piers. Nine ridges were surveyed. Ridge sails may be as high as 2.2 m, but depth of consolidation was only 1.8 m.
