Failure stress and failure modulus of natural ice island ice under uniaxial compression at constant strain rates / M.O. Jeffries, Nirmal K. Sinha, William M. Sackinger.

Title: Failure stress and failure modulus of natural ice island ice under uniaxial compression at constant strain rates / M.O. Jeffries, Nirmal K. Sinha, William M. Sackinger.
Author(s): Jeffries, M. O.
Sinha, Nirmal K.
Sackinger, William M.
Date: 1990.
Publisher: New York: American Society of Mechanical Engineers
In: Proceedings of the Ninth International Conference on Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering - 1990 - presented at ... Houston, Texas, February 18-23, 1990. Vol. 4. Arctic/polar technology. (1990.),
Abstract: Presents first results and initial data analysis of tests on ice from tabular iceberg in Arctic, known as Hobson's Choice Ice Island, which broke off from Ward Hunt Ice Shelf, Ellesmere Island, NWT, in 1982-83. Samples all consisted of superimposed ice produced by melting and refreezing of snow on surface of ice shelf. Strain-rates were in range 2x10⁻⁷ s⁻¹ to 1x10⁻³ s⁻¹.
