| Abstract: | Stress distributions in ice floe idealized as circular disc are calculated for various boundary loading conditions. General purpose finite-element program ADINA is used. Effects of ice-thickness variations on stress distributions is also examined. Numerical results, complemented with some field data, provided basis for making recommendations on locations of stress sensors, and interpretation of stress measurements in relation to pack-ice driving forces. |
