| Abstract: | Dynamic/thermodynamic sea-ice model has been configured to include both multi- and first-year ice. Model was run for 7-year period, 1979-85, for which satellite microwave record of multiyear sea-ice coverage is available. Simulated concentrations of multiyear ice are slightly higher than satellite-derived concentrations, although total coverage of simulated multiyear ice agrees well with satellite-derived coverage. Further points of comparison between simulated and satellite-derived coverages show good agreement. |
