Record #103860:
Estimating oceanic heat flux from sea-ice thickness and temperature data / J.S. Wettlaufer, Norbert Untersteiner, Roger Colony.
Title: | Estimating oceanic heat flux from sea-ice thickness and temperature data / J.S. Wettlaufer, Norbert Untersteiner, Roger Colony. |
Author(s): | Wettlaufer, J. S. Untersteiner, Norbert. Colony, Roger. |
Date: | 1990. |
In: | Annals of Glaciology. (1990.), Vol. 14 (1990) |
Abstract: | Role of oceanic heat flux in sea-ice energy and mass balance, and significance in performance of ice-ocean models, is discussed. Method of determination by measuring temperatures and thickness of sea ice is described. Results obtained and data collected during autumn 1988 in eastern Arctic are presented. Values ranging from 0 to 37 W m⁻² were estimated from observations north-east of Fram Strait, varying in both time and space. |
