Title: A northern hemispheric volcanic chemistry record (1869-1984) and climatic implications using a south Greenland ice core / William Berry Lyons, Paul A. Mayewski, M.J. Spencer, M.S. Twickler, T. Graesel.
Author(s): Lyons, William Berry.
Mayewski, Paul A.
Spencer, M. J.
Twickler, M. S.
Graesel, T.
Date: 1990.
In: Annals of Glaciology. (1990.), Vol. 14 (1990)
Abstract: Presents detailed sulphate and chloride record from ice core drilled at site 20D, 40 km from Dye 3. Spans 1869-1984 with eight samples per year. Individual volcanic eruptions were documented, some unnoticed previously. High percentage of major chemical signatures documenting these events is associated with large decreases in temperature at 60 to 90°N.
