Record #103468:

Microorganisms concentrated by frazil ice: evidence from laboratory experiments and field measurements / D.L. Garrison, A.R. Close, Erk Reimnitz.

Title: Microorganisms concentrated by frazil ice: evidence from laboratory experiments and field measurements / D.L. Garrison, A.R. Close, Erk Reimnitz.
Author(s): Garrison, D. L.
Close, A. R.
Reimnitz, Erk.
Date: 1990.
In: CRREL Monograph. (1990.), Vol. 90-1 (1990)
Abstract: Laboratory experiments showed that frazil ice can concentrate organisms from two to four times above levels in underlying water; this can be considerably higher in nature, probably because of longer temporal and spatial scale which allows more contact of ice crystals with particles and with one another.
Notes:

CRREL Monograph. Vol. 90-1 :92-96 (1990).

Keywords: 551.328.4 -- Frazil ice.
551.32 -- Glaciology.
582.261 -- Diatomaceae.
E6 -- Glaciology: floating ice.
