Abstract: Reflectances were obtained in August 1986 from Forbindelsesgletscher, East Greenland. Reflectance was measured in situ using portable spectrometer and calculated using thematic mapping (TM) data. Atmospheric corrections were applied to at-satellite reflectances and results were compared with reflectances obtained in situ during field work. By this technique, it is possible to assess observed reflectance changes of snow and ice quantitatively using TM data.
