Abstract: | Describes methodology and results of experiments to examine relationship between 94 GHz backscatter from snow cover and physical properties of snow for purposes of hydrological monitoring. Measurements were made of spatially averaged radar cross-section per unit area (or backscatter coefficient), at fixed radar depression angles, of snow-covered field as snow properties changed with time. Measurements were made throughout trials in parts of field adjacent to target area. Data analyzed and discussed. |
