Record #102881:

Mechanical properties and failure modes of sea ice / C.M. Browne, Max D. Coon.

Title: Mechanical properties and failure modes of sea ice / C.M. Browne, Max D. Coon.
Author(s): Browne, C. M.
Coon, Max D.
Date: 1990.
In: Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. (1990.), Vol. 71(2) (1990)
Abstract: Presents appropriate properties for failure by either compression or elastic buckling, and those required to determine bending deformation or failure. These include viscosity, strength and elastic modulus. Common test methods for determining mechanical properties are examined in terms of data they produce.
Notes:

Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. Vol. 71(2) :128 (1990).

Abstract of poster to be presented at 1990 Ocean Sciences Meeting, February 12-16, 1990, New Orleans, Louisiana.

Keywords: 551.32 -- Glaciology.
551.326 -- Floating ice.
551.326.7 -- Sea ice.
539.3 -- Ice, mechanical properties.
539.37 -- Ice, plastic and viscous deformation.
539.42 -- Ice, tensile strength.
E6 -- Glaciology: floating ice.
