The Arctic Ocean ice balance: melding of observation and theory / D.A. Rothrock.
Title: | The Arctic Ocean ice balance: melding of observation and theory / D.A. Rothrock. |
Author(s): | Rothrock, D. A. |
Date: | 1990. |
In: | Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. (1990.), Vol. 71(2) (1990) |
Abstract: | Describes methodology and results of estimating concentrations of open water and of first-year and multiyear sea ice in Arctic Ocean from observed buoy motions and passive SMMR data in conjunction with simple conservation equations. Results show quite different mass balances for different and interannual areas and considerable interannual variations. Discusses advantages of procedure used. |
Notes: | Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. Vol. 71(2) :99 (1990). Abstract of paper to be presented at 1990 Ocean Sciences Meeting, February 12-16, 1990, New Orleans, Louisiana. |
Keywords: | 551.326.12 -- Floating ice, distribution, seasonal. 551.32 -- Glaciology. 551.326 -- Floating ice. 551.326.7 -- Sea ice. E6 -- Glaciology: floating ice. (*60) -- Arctic Ocean and adjacent waters. |
