| Abstract: | In 1944 Finland switched to chasing Germans out, and they in turn drove out inhabitants, destroying their settlements and sowing mines. Describes work of Todt Organisation, including operations "Schutzwall" and "Sturmbock" in fortifications and building roads and airstrips behind new fronts. Plans were changed by Hitler when he decided to cede Petsamo (Pechenga) area, other parts were abandoned without fight in January, though Germans held Kilpisjärvi area until end of April 1945. |
