Title: Saami taxation in Sweden 1695-1860 / Roger Kvist.
Author(s): Kvist, Roger.
Date: 1989.
In: Umeå University. Center for Arctic Cultural Research. Miscellaneous Publications. (1989.), Vol. 7 (1989)
Abstract: Author discusses "lappskatt" reform of 1695, grounds for annual adjustment in light of Taxed Lands' judicial status and tax burden. How burden was shared is not clear, perhaps mixture of land and reindeer holdings. Taxed Land was passed on according to strength of its legal status. Burden is examined from Tuorpon settlement and parish of Jokkmokk. Value of taxes and price of hides are compared.
