Record #102373:

The role of local authorities in tourism development - an example from the district of Eyjafjördhur / THorleifur THór Jónsson.

Title: The role of local authorities in tourism development - an example from the district of Eyjafjördhur / THorleifur THór Jónsson.
Author(s): Jónsson, THorleifur THór.
Date: [1989]
Publisher: Akureyri, Iceland: University of Akureyri
In: Líf undir leidharstjörnu. ([1989]),
Abstract: Speaker explains main steps in inducing tourists to go to particular place. In Iceland, about 64% of cost is added to local economy. Tourists to northern lands want activity. Facilities in Akureyri are used much more by locals than those in St. Moritz, which makes providing them easier, although no Icelander would want to camp. Since there is not enough to do in Akureyri alone, it would be sensible if whole fjord combined in giving information. Opportunity was missed when Keflavík airport was not given satisfactory domestic flying facilities.
