Abstract: Article describes history of major parts of area around Kangerlussuaq in Precambrian, Caledonian, Palaeozoic and Mesozoic periods, separation of Greenland from north-west Europe and creation of Atlantic. Skaergårds Intrusion has particular interest and has attracted considerable research from expeditions. Prospect of exploitable minerals or oil was noticed in 1970.
