Icebreaker design synthesis analysis of contemporary icebreaker performance / Arno J. Keinonen, Robin P. Browne, C.R. Revill.
Title: | Icebreaker design synthesis analysis of contemporary icebreaker performance / Arno J. Keinonen, Robin P. Browne, C.R. Revill. |
Author(s): | Keinonen, Arno J. Browne, Robin P. Revill, C. R. |
Date: | 1989. |
Publisher: | Montreal: Transport Canada, Transportation Development Centre |
Abstract: | Study of icebreaking technology of seven icebreakers developed for oil companies in Beaufort Sea. Each vessel had features which had not been used on icebreakers before. Captains of five vessels were interviewed, and full-scale data for ships were analyzed and compared. Models for estimation of performance of ships in level ice, in ridges, turning in ice, in transit and in open water were developed. |
