| Abstract: | Examines main factors in formation of ice fronts, and presents their morphological types. Considers their potential as natural moorings and on this basis identifies three types. Based on evaluation of hydrological and climatic conditions draws conclusions on potential use of ice fronts of Antarctica as natural moorings, and for other practical purposes. Gives recommendations for securing mooring and considers possibility of constructing artificial ice moorings. |
