Record #101758:

The effect of glacier wind on local climate, turbulent heat fluxes and ablation / Tetsuo Ohata.

Title: The effect of glacier wind on local climate, turbulent heat fluxes and ablation / Tetsuo Ohata.
Author(s): Ohata, Tetsuo.
Date: 1989[pub. 1991]
In: Zeitschrift für Gletscherkunde und Glazialgeologie. (1989[pub. 1991]), Vol. 25(1) (1989[pub. 1991])
Abstract: Discusses influence of glacier wind on local climate of melting snow and ice masses with reference to five data sets in humid and semi-arid regions (Nepal, China, Japan, Chile, Spitsbergen). Compares observations to theoretical models of turbulent heat fluxes. Frequency of glacier wind depends on glacier size and atmospheric conditions: it is higher on large glaciers and in warm environment.
