Abstract: Asserts value of native traditions in context of changing lifestyles. Contrasts ecological value of native traditions with damage caused by industrialization, recording relevant campaigning. On grounds of native tradition argues for: changes in economic and agricultural policy, preservation of small settlements, and balanced view of settled/nomadic dichotomy. Points to value of native housing, clothing, and diet. Discusses spiritual and ethical values of traditional native culture, including upbringing of children. Discusses role of ethnographers. Argues for restoration of Committee of the North (abolished 1930's) to improve native rights and self-determination.
