| Abstract: | Gross β-activity of snow samples collected in 1986, 1987, and 1988 from vertical profiles on Kesselwandferner, Ötztal Alps, Austria, was measured to evaluate contamination by fallout from reactor accident in April 1986. Although peak activity concentration decreased from 1986 to 1988, dispersion of contaminated range to depths of 11 m was observed, while contamination per unit area remained almost constant. With γ-spectroscopy, ¹³⁷Cs and ¹³⁴Cs were detected as dominant. |
