| Abstract: | Discusses design of this 6 km-long road and rail bridge extending from island of Fyn, Denmark, to island of Sprogø, in middle of channel of Store Baelt. After crossing Sprogø, railway will continue underground to Sjaelland, while motorway will be on 6.7 m-long elevated bridge. Completion of entire project expected in 1993. Project in general is described, and ice conditions in channel and ice forces expected on piers of western bridge are discussed. |
