Abstract: Presents overview of freshwater fisheries of northern Siberia, in terms of waters fished, species exploited, and present catches. Overfishing of certain species (especially exploitation of immature individuals) and elimination of spawning grounds by building of dams on upper Ob' river, in particular, coupled with industrial pollution, have led to drastic decreases in fish catches over past few decades.
