Record #101104:

A cooperative climatological-glaciological program in the Antarctic Peninsula / Lonnie G. Thompson, Robert Mulvaney, David A. Peel.

Title: A cooperative climatological-glaciological program in the Antarctic Peninsula / Lonnie G. Thompson, Robert Mulvaney, David A. Peel.
Author(s): Thompson, Lonnie G.
Mulvaney, Robert.
Peel, David A.
Date: 1989.
In: Antarctic Journal of the United States. (1989.), Vol. 24(5) (1989)
Abstract: British Antarctic Survey, Byrd Polar Research Center and Geophysical Research Group, University of Washington, initiated programme of research during 1988-89 field season, aiming to establish, from ice cores, palaeoclimatic history, spanning 1000-2000 years, in southern region of peninsula. Hoped to determine nature of physical link between annually resolvable records from other ice cores in peninsula as well as sites such as Quelccaya ice cap, South America, thus producing global synthesis of climatic variations over last 2000 years in order to understand mechanisms controlling more frequent fluctuations in global climate and to assess whether palaeoclimatic records extracted from polar ice cores relate to climatic events at lower latitudes.
