| Abstract: | Examines use of accumulated data on ice conditions in Arctic and freezing non-Arctic seas for simulation of Northern Sea Route navigation. Discusses problems of modelling ship speed in connection with ice information deficiency and its non-unified presentation. Proposes ways to resolve difficulties associated with use of different ice-cover characteristics and with regional peculiarities of freezing seas. Formulates requirements for investigating ice cover as navigation medium. |
