Digital satellite image mapping of Antarctica / Jörn Sievers, Andreas Grindel, Willi Meier.

Title: Digital satellite image mapping of Antarctica / Jörn Sievers, Andreas Grindel, Willi Meier.
Author(s): Sievers, Jörn.
Grindel, Andreas.
Meier, Willi.
Date: 1989.
In: Polarforschung. (1989.), Vol. 59(1/2) (1989)
Abstract: Presents mapping technique, based entirely on digital processing, designed to overcome special difficulties inherent in Antarctic mapping caused by factors such as insufficient ground control, multiple independent coordinate systems, large areas without control and moving or changing points. Results demonstrated by recently published satellite image maps composed of Landsat-1 and 2 imagery at 1:1,000,000 and 1:250,000 scales.
