Record #100151:

Influence of ground ice variability on settlement in thawing permafrost / Patrick M. Collins, Norbert R. Morgenstern.

Title: Influence of ground ice variability on settlement in thawing permafrost / Patrick M. Collins, Norbert R. Morgenstern.
Author(s): Collins, Patrick M.
Morgenstern, Norbert R.
Date: 1989.
Publisher: New York: American Society of Civil Engineers
In: Cold Regions Engineering. Proceedings of the Fifth International Conference. (1989.),
Abstract: Results of analyses show that consideration of thaw settlement variability leads to reduction in computed settlement when compared with commonly adopted one-dimensional procedures. This arises from arching that develops during consolidation of heterogenous thawing soil.
Notes:

In: Cold Regions Engineering. Proceedings of the Fifth International Conference / Radoslaw L. Michalowski, ed.

Keywords: 624.139.264 -- Bearing capacity of ground, effect of thawing.
624.139.24 -- Settling and caving due to thawing.
551.345 -- Permafrost. Cryopedology.
536.421.1 -- Melting.
