Record #100132:

Dye-2 and Dye-3 - a 30 year engineering history / Stewart G. Osgood, Daniel Bornstein.

Title: Dye-2 and Dye-3 - a 30 year engineering history / Stewart G. Osgood, Daniel Bornstein.
Author(s): Osgood, Stewart G.
Bornstein, Daniel.
Date: 1989.
Publisher: New York: American Society of Civil Engineers
In: Cold Regions Engineering. Proceedings of the Fifth International Conference. (1989.),
Abstract: Two ten-storey buildings constructed in 1959-69 for projected life of ten years. Most serious problems are horizontal distortion of footing base plan caused by flow of ice, and large differential footing settlement and tilt due to non-homogeneous snow and ice under footings. Also, each building must be lifted periodically to compensate for annual snow accumulation of c. 1.2 m a⁻¹. Discusses this and other specialized engineering practices at these sites.
Notes:

In: Cold Regions Engineering. Proceedings of the Fifth International Conference / Radoslaw L. Michalowski, ed.

Keywords: 624.14 -- Snow and ice engineering.
69(211) -- Building construction in cold regions.
624.15 -- Foundations.
E12 -- Glaciology: frozen ground / snow and ice engineering.
