BMS Lecture Theatre, School of Chemistry, Lensfield Road, Cambridge CB2 1ER
4:00pm (Doors open at 3:30pm)
Join us for a lecture and preview screening of Ponting's iconic film, now digitally restored as he wished it to be seen. Introduced by Bryony Dixon, Curator, Silent Film, BFI National Archive, who has said
"Not only does this film give us a real sense of the challenges and hardships of the expedition, it also resolves controversies which arose in the 1970s concerning Scott's reputation as a leader."
Released as a silent film on 1924, an accompanist would have been on hand to add atmosphere. On this occasion, Neil Brand, internationally renowned writer, composer and silent film accompanist will fill this role.
