Shackleton and Leadership Assembly resource for schools
Suitable for Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3 (ages 8 - 14 years).
Topic: Leadership
Use this Assembly Plan to explore what it means to be a good leader through the example of Sir Ernest Shackleton during the incredible 'Nimrod' expedition of 1907 -1909. Aiming to be the first to the South Pole, Shackleton and a small team of men sledged to within 180km, but without enough supplies to make the return journey home Shackleton made the brave decision to turn back.
As well as the assembly plan itself, you can download an accompanying images presentation with photographs from the expedition and images objects for use in the classroom. There is also an information pack detailing the incredible story of the expedition.
