Shackleton items from the Archives

Leather boots, two types, designed by Shackleton and worn during the Endurance expedition

The boots are most likely those worn by James Mann Wordie during Shackleton's Endurance Expedition. Wordie was geologist aboard Endurance and later Master of St John's College, Cambridge, and Chairman of the Trustees at the Scott Polar Research Institute (1937-55)
