Acquisition, cataloguing, and indexing programmes have continued, with 165 monographs added to the collection and 1350 records added to the database. In February, WDCG-C's database 'SPRILIB Ice and Snow' was re-launched on the Internet with 32,536 records. It may be searched free-of-charge at www.spri.cam.ac.uk/wdcc/icesnow.htm.

In 1998, the International Glaciological Society presented its extensive collection of reprints to WDCG-C, including the historically important collection amassed by Gerald Seligman, founder of the British Glaciological Society, precursor of IGS. Records for this collection have been exported from a database maintained by Simon Ommanney, IGS executive secretary, and are now being upgraded for loading into the SPRILIB database through the addition of indexing, translated titles, and abstracts as appropriate. The placement student Leonard Schlegel helpfully provided German translations for many of the large number of offprints in that language.

On the WDC website, The directory of European glaciology www.spri.cam.ac.uk/wdcc/deg.htm now posts completed directories for Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, together with a international organisations involved in glaciology. The directories for Finland, France, Iceland, Italy, and Spain are new this year; that for Austria has been updated.
