Baffin Island 2003	Alpine style ascent of Mount Asgard by the 1972 East Pillar route. Alpine style ascents of new routes on the north and south peaks of Mount Asgard. Ski descents of various gullies and couloirs in the Weasel Valley.	£700 including the Arctic Club Award
British South Kangerdluggsuaq Expedition 2003	Mountain exploration, glacier travel and first ascents on classic alpine style peaks in the area.	£1200
BSES Footsteps of Shackleton 2003/4	Three equally important objectives: Science, Archaeology and Mountaineering.	£1000
Greenland 2003	To gain experience of living and trekking on an ice cap. To carry out a geochemical survey of heavy base metals from melt water stream sediments.	£300
Midnight Sun 2003	First ascents of three unclimbed mountains of approx. 2680m, 2390m and 2380m. Exploratory skiing of previously unvisited glacier systems with first ascents of other unclimbed peaks either on ski or by technical snow and ice routes up to D+. Second ascents by new routes of other peaks in the area. Production of a GPS grid of the areas explored and mountains climbed and basic geological fieldwork.	£300
Ozone Depletion Impacts on High Arctic Tundra	To assess the effects of enhanced UV-B radiation on a long term (seven season) field site. Vegetation will be harvested and biochemical variation, genomic and microbial damage will be analysed.	£300 Edward Wilson Fund
Prins Christian Sund Expedition 2003	To climb two previously unclimbed walls/peaks, as well as repeating and putting up new routes on a third big wall.	£1000
Royal Air Force Greenland 2003 - OTTE VENER	The expedition will attempt unclimbed mountains in the previously unexplored Hvidbjorns Nunatakker area of North-eastern Greenland. To develop mountaineering skills and personal qualities amongst expedition members and provide experience of the demands and isolation of spending 25 days unsupported on the Greenland Icecap.	£600
Scottish Lemon Mountains Expedition 2003	To experience the challanges of arctic exploration around the Hedgehog Glacier and the mountains around it.	£500
Scottish Mountaineering Club Greenland 2003	First ascent of the South Ridge of Dansketinde (2390m)m, the highest peak in the range.	£600
Scottish South East Greenland Expedition 2003	To explore unvisited area of Greenland, a travel expedition which combines unsupported ice cap with mountaineering ascents of unclimbed peaks in three specific areas.	£1200
2003 Greenland Expedition Knud Rasmussen Land	To climb a region that has not previously been visited by mountaineers and to achieve a number of first ascents on previously unclimbed mountains.	£400
University of Sheffield Svalbard Expeditions 2003	To characterise dissolved organic matter within High Arctic glacial systems and identify the contribution organic nutrients have upon biogeochemical cycling. To demonstrate high Arctic glaciers to be dynamic biological systems, rather than biologically inert cryospheric entities.	£300 Edward Wilson Fund
British Women's Schweitzerland Expedition	To climb new routes on the North and South faces of Tupilak and Rodebjerg mountains. To make the first female ascents of these mountains. To explore the subsidiary peaks in the area making first ascents and further new routes. To make a film of a women's mountaineering expedition in East Greenland.	£1200
