Greenland 2001 - Tilman in a New Millennium (Year 2)	To climb unclimbed 2000 metre peaks, and to climb new rock and ice routes in the Upernavik area, to repeat Tilman's traverse of Bylot Island, but by ski and to complete a new ski traverse across Bylott Island.	£800
Scottish Mountaineering ClubEast Greenland Expedition 2001	First ascent of the unclimbed South Ridge of Dansketinde (2930m), the highest peak in the Staunings Alps, East Greenland.First ascent of the unclimbed South Face of Sussex (2300m). This peak has only been climbed once (Cambridge University team, 1963).	£800
Polestar Expedition	To make the first successful British unsupported longitudinal crossing of Spitsbergen.	£400
Sail Greenland 2001	Sail to Kap Farvel region of Greenland using sailing yacht as mobile base, explore Kangerdluk and Kangersuneq Quingordleq branches of the Nûp Kangerdlua Fjord; climbing new peaks and attempting Igdlorssuit Qaqat at 2292m.	£1200
Lanchester Greenland 2001 (Arctic Club Award)	The principal objective of the expedition is to enable members to make first ascents of the mountains surrounding our proposed base camp. With over 15 virgin peaks at an anticipated attainable standard around the base camp g lacier, we fully expect it to be possible for every member of the team to make a number of first ascents. The adjoining glacier to the north-east appears to be accessible via both a col and the icecap, and will provide a number of further objectives.	£1200
Motzfeldt Geological Expedition, South Greenland	To examine processes occurring beneath volcanoes by studying two exceptional extinct volcanoes exposed on remote nunataqs. To allow access to this remarkable area to geologists with relevant scientific expertise, but without experience of Arctic conditions	£800
Oxford University Svalbard Expedition 2001	To produce a detailed geological map of the region, focussing on the kinematics of faults and motions involved in deformation	£1200
The South Ice Traverse - In the footsteps of John Rymill (Ascomycota).	To complete a return crossing of the Antarctic Peninsula following the route established by John Rymill in 1937 on the British Graham Land Expedition. To produce a documentary about the expedition highlighting John Rymill's involvement in the British Graham Land Expedition.	£800
South Greenland 2001	Ascent of previously unclimbed routes by traditional rock climbing methods, of the many granite faces and peaks in Iglorsit Haun, the western-most valley on the south facing coast of Prins Christian Sund.	£1000
2001 East Greenland Glacier Surge Survey	To carry out a Ground Penetrating Radar survey of a surge-type glacier to determine ice thickness, and englacial thermal and structural properties. Through this to improve understanding of unstable glacier flow dynamics within the surge cluster of East Greenland, and hence our understanding of the stability of the major ice sheets.	£1000
