Carries out interdisciplinary marine ecological research through extensive fieldwork performed on sea- and land-based expeditions chiefly through the framework of international research programmes (with Norway, Germany, Russia, and The Netherlands). Recent projects include: fresh water discharge to Arctic coastal ecosystems; tidal zone mapping of Svalbard; wildlife mapping of the Russian Arctic archipelagos; zooplankton communities in the Greenland Sea; International Arctic Polynya Project; zoogeography of Pseudocalanus in European Arctic seas; and seabirds feeding in Arctic coastal waters. |
