Aidan Foster

Computer Officer, SPRI, and Senior Member, Wolfson College

I am responsible for IT support in the Scott Polar Institute in the University of Cambridge.

Biography

I have been a Computer Officer at the University of Cambridge since March 1996, working in most areas of IT support, and have been at Scott Polar since September 2012. I especially enjoy systems administration.

Prior to this, I was a research scientist both in academia and the pharmaceutical industry and have a number of scientific publications, mostly relating to leukotrienes (derivatives of arachidonic acid), an important mediator in asthma and allergies.

More recently, I have become interested in sacred spaces and archaeoastronomy and have papers in press on the Norse settlement of Vinland (L’Anse aux Meadows, NL, Canada) and Silbury Hill (Neolithic Wessex).
