| Full description: |
Whole: An unusual American patriotic motif. A realistic bobcat (lynx) is at bay, snarling, and defending an eagle which holds an eccentric Stars and Stripes in its beak. The flag has eight dark and eight light stripes not the usual seven and six, and the stars have not five points but six. Also the bird atop the flagstaff more resembes a parrot than an eagle. Could the image have been taken from Chinese export porcelain where some delightful oddities are to be found? |
