| Full description: |
Whole: Is a representation of General Napoleon Buonaparte (1769-1821), exhorting his troops as they crossed the Alps to engage the Austrians at the battle of Marengo in May 1800. It was derived from the famous painting by Jaques Louis David (1748-1825). Outlined in dots, it was probably transferred at a later date from one of the popular prints of David's painting.
