Whole: On deck, a smart young officer is wearing straight trousers, a fancy shirt fastened with a bow, short blue jacket, peaked cap with wide crown and square-toed shoes. Dots outline the main features, but neither his nationality nor whether he is a naval or merchant seaman has yet been determined. It probably dates from ca. 1830-1840. |
